Been there, seen that…

Boston Celtic injures himself during a key playoff game. The thought of him returning to play seems nearly impossible. Celtic returns to the court and is an instant hero.

2008 or last night’s game?

Celtic Point Guard Rajon Rondo found himself in some pain after hitting the ground in their game 3 battle with the Miami Heat. (See video here: http://tinyurl.com/3pxvyl9) Although Rondo’s injury seemed to knock him out of the series, this whole scene seemed very similar to something we’ve all seen before.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals and Paul Pierce was the one on the ground. After his “devastating” injury, he returned to action and sparked his team with his determination to win.

Although it’s easy to say that Rondo’s injury looked a lot worse, it just isn’t a fresh idea. Had he wanted more exposure about his one-handed effort later in the game, he should have waited a few years more for the typical fan to forget Pierce’s heroics.
